The Vancouver Airport Improvement Fee training guide focuses on a complete overview of the collection and ticketing procedures to accommodate a transition from an airport collected AIF to a ticketable AIF for tickets and other traffic documents issued on or after 01 April 2004 for travel on/after 01 June 2004. Key topic include: General Overview, Application of the AIF at YVR Airport, Tax on the AIF, Destination Tiers, Definition of Areas, Exemptions and Passengers Not Required to Pay the AIF, Ticketing and Routing Examples, and Extensive Refund and Reissue Procedures.

It should be noted that the guide will go into great depth in detailing proper handling of exchange ticket transactions which are particularly complex, as well as transactions where the date of travel or destination tier changes.

These procedures are particularly complicated by a three-tier, destination-sensitive AIF amount structure, as well as AIF rates which are different for travel in 2004 versus travel in 2005. A key objective of the guide is to assure that all stakeholders have correctly collected the proper AIF to guard against unfunded airline liabilities and travel agency debit memos.

The training guide primarily focuses on tickets issued in Canada.

Price per copy: CAD 15.00 if ordered before 01 April 2004 (plus applicable taxes for Canadian orders only). CAD 20.00 if ordered thereafter. Only online VISA and MasterCard transactions on ATC's secure web site are accepted. Please note that guide orders are non-refundable. The guide is available free-of-charge to CSTAR members (CSTAR members should e-mail their request for a free copy to postmaster@cstar.ca).
