The Airline Training Council is the largest travel industry training organization in North America. More than 250,000 travel agents and airline personnel have attended ATC sponsored courses throughout the world. Founded in 1980, ATC has a well-earned reputation for timely, incisive training programs, mostly technical in nature, which fill the industry's vast educational needs.
In 1989, with the implementation of the new IATA currency system and neutral units of construction (NUCs), ATC conducted the single largest travel industry training program ever with more than 11,000 airline and travel agency personnel participating in a three month period.
Over the past 30 years, ATC has provided customized training and consultancy support to the Air Transport Association of America (ATA), Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Airline Tariff Publishing Company (ATPCo), and world class airlines including Air Canada, Air Florida, America West Airlines, Continental Airlines, Eastern Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Pan American World Airways, Trans World Airlines, United Airlines, and U.S. Airways. For nearly 7 years, ATC devised and implemented the official travel agency training programs for IATA/BSP Canada and Air Canada.
In addition, ATC has provided unique specialty training programs designed exclusively for major travel agencies including American Express, Casto Travel, Garber Travel, Rider Travel, Thomas Cook, Uniglobe Travel, and the Walt Disney Travel Company.
ATC is an Associate Member of the Board of Airline Representatives in Canada (BARCA) which assists all members of the airline industry in interacting effectively and efficiently with federal, provincial, municipal and airport authorities, striving for continuous improvement in all relevant areas
ATC's worldwide headquarters are in Washington, DC, where the organization was founded in 1980. ATC conducts its training programs primarily in the USA, but offers virtual and electronic media programs in nearly 20 countries. ATC also provides consulting and management programs throughout the world.
